Frame Construction at the Apiary

With the swarming season well and truly upon us (albeit rather earlier than usual!), it was time to get the club apiary ready to accept some bees into some of those empty hives - a mass frame construction was called for!

In the end, we were only able to construct sufficient frames for the brood boxes and supers for 2 of the hives - on our arrival, we found a Great Tit had taken up residence in the brood box of the 3rd hive, and is currently sitting on eggs in there!
We will, of course, leave the nest well alone now we know it's there, and allow the eggs to hatch, babies to fledge, and the parents to move on, before tidying up, and putting frames into that box too!
